Residential Wells in Alaska

Well Water in ALASKA

Part of being Alaskan is being independent. We pride ourselves on being able to walk into the woods and survive. Most of Alaska is off the road system and remote. Even in most areas on the road system the housing options available often are outside of basic utility grids provided by a town or city. This means that many Alaskans gets their water from residential wells.

Here are some sites that provide information on Alaska’s wells:

EPA: Alaska’s Drinking Water

EPA: Private Wells

AKDNR Mining, Land and Water: Well Log Tracking System (WLTS)

Great commentary on living off the grid. Having the potential to acquire ones own food and water will definitely increase independency from municipality. As well, there are environmental and economic gains that stems from the ability of extracting your own water. Great images.
