This diagram and accompanying site can be used to explain most everything one would want to know about the rock cycle. There is basic, yet important information about the three main classes of rocks (i.e., igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic), animated illustration of how rocks change through heat and pressure, and a post assessment to test for understanding. This resource can be used to teach several lessons or even a unit on the rock cycle. Students could interact with this site individually, or in partner groups. Students could work through the site, identifying key features of the rock cycle in a pre-prepared handout. The assessments can be printed out and used as a formative assessment for small group work.
