This virtual tour is simply a powerpoint presentation and nothing really fancy, but it does provide information on the history of the flood control project as well as maps of the project. I would guess that almost all of my students are familiar with the Chena Lake Recreation Area but that few of them even realize that it is part of a flood control project. Even those who are aware of the flood control project probably don’t know how it works. (I didn’t). As a result, I think this powerpoint is really worth watching and showing to students, as are the maps on the site. I would highly recommend downloading the PowerPoint rather than just watching the slideshow on line – the small size of the online version makes the maps difficult to read and understand.
