Photographs including Water for Lesson Warm-up

This website is a photo gallery for photographer QT Luong and has some stunning tundra pictures in Alaska.   Many of them include landforms that are created by water such as meandering rivers, rapids, braided rivers, streams, oxbows, and more.   My favorite is the meandering stream (photo #gaar0020) of the Alatna river.   It looks so beautiful!

I would use this as an opener for a lesson, perhaps a 10 minute warm-up write.   The picture could best be projected in color and students could write their observations about what erosion, weathering, landforms they see or talk about how they think the river came to look like that describing the forces at work.
