Terms and Animations for Understanding Earthquakes

This website from the USGS would be a nice tool to use to teach elementary-aged students vocabulary related to earthquakes. ¬†It gives a long list of terms and briefly defines each, then gives a link to a short, easy-to-understand animation that illustrates the action defined by each term. ¬†Because younger students do not yet have the depth of knowledge to understand and be able to “picture” some of the processes listed here, due to their somewhat abstract nature, this site would be a good source for helping those students to develop content-specific vocabulary before the main teaching of the unit occurs.
