PhET Interactive Simulations; Adiabatic Processes

Seriously, everyone should check out the PhET Interactive Simulations website from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I was amazed! I love this website!

I chose the online animations, Earth Science, and gas laws for this assignment but there are so many wonderful simulations that include a downloadable pdf for teachers.

I chose the gas laws animation because student can “pump” in some molecules and then experiment with them. Students can compress and expand the container, watch the molecules, and see the thermometer register increasing and decreasing temperatures. Adiabatic cooling and expansion can be hard to explain. This is a wonderful tool to demonstrate adiabatic processes!
