This website shows a video of coastal erosion occurring over one month it Beautfort Coast, Alaska. It was taken from a New York Times blog. Since geological time doesn’t match our understanding of time so well, I find it challenging to show students how processes of erosion and weathering effect us over time, it is one thing to see photos of it from one time to the next, but the benefit of this video is the currency of it. This is actually happening, students could visit this coastline today and experience it first hand. I would show the video and then see if locate the actual data on the eroding coastline in order to have students graph it its decline over time. We would compare the decline to other eroding coastlines too.
