NOAA Podcasts are cool!

The NOAA Podcasts page offers podcasts on issues ranging from the Gulf oil spill to measuring tides to hurricanes. Each podcast provides links to supplemental information on the subject.
Several options for using these podcasts in the classroom:
1. Students listen to the podcast about the oil spill in the Gulf to understand the relevance of the study of earth science. There are obvious opportunities to discuss natural resources and oil spills in Alaska.
2. Students may choose a podcast (from the numerous options) to listen to. They will also explore the related links provided by NOAA. This would serve as a starting point for a mini research project to be shared with the class or in groups.
Both options could serve as an introduction to podcasts so that students could eventually produce their own podcast individually or in groups.
